Silver State Locksmith opens, repairs and services gun safes at homes and businesses across Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas, 24 hours a day. If a keypad has gone dead, a fingerprint reader stopped working or a combination slipped your mind, a technician usually arrives in 20 to 30 minutes and tells you the price before any work starts.
Because a gun safe holds firearms, we ask for proof of ownership before we open one, every time. You can check our locksmith license before the visit.
- Any hourGun safe lockouts are handled at night, on weekends and on holidays, with a technician who comes directly to your home.
- Proof firstWe confirm the safe is legally yours before a single tool comes out, because firearms should only reach their owner.
- Price up frontYou hear the complete cost before work begins, and nothing gets started on the safe until you agree.
- Locks that work againIf drilling is ever needed, the safe is repaired before we leave so the door locks properly and keeps protecting your firearms.

What Kind of Gun Safe Do You Have?
The lock type tells the technician where to start, so look at the front of the door and match what you see to one of these common designs.
Biometric Gun Safe

It has a small glass or metal pad where you press a finger, and usually a backup key or keypad hidden nearby. Readers fail when the batteries run low, the sensor gets dirty or a cut or dry finger no longer matches the stored print.
Combination Dial Gun Safe

A round numbered dial with a handle beside it marks the classic mechanical lock. These rarely fail on their own, but a forgotten combination, a dial that spins freely or a lock knocked out of line will keep the door shut.
Electronic Keypad Gun Safe

A number pad with a small screen or a beeping light points to an electronic lock, and dead batteries cause most lockouts, followed by worn keypads, loose wires behind the pad and codes changed by mistake.
Fireproof Gun Safe

These look like other tall gun safes but carry a fire rating label inside the door, given as a time and a temperature. The tight door seal can trap moisture that rusts guns stored for long stretches, and the fire rating says nothing about how well the safe resists a break in.
Under Bed Gun Safe

This is a flat, wide case that slides out like a drawer from under the bed frame, where the slide rails can jam and the key or keypad sits low where it gets kicked and knocked.
Problems We Fix
- The keypad is dead and nothing happens when I press it.We check the battery and the power path first, and where the lock design allows it, we bypass the failed keypad and replace it so you have a working lock again.
- I forgot the combination. We open the safe by manipulation or by working the lock, then set a new combination that you choose and test it with you.
- The fingerprint reader will not take my finger. We try the backup entry, clean and test the fingerprint reader, and open the safe if it still refuses, then repair or replace the electronic lock.
- The key turns but the handle will not open the door. The bolts are often binding against the frame, so we take the pressure off, open the door and service the boltwork and lock.
- I lost the key to my small handgun safe.We pick or decode the lock and cut a replacement key on location, or install a new lock if the original one is badly worn.
How We Handle the Job
- 1
Proof of ownership
We confirm the safe belongs to you with a receipt, identification at the address or similar paperwork before any work starts.
- 2
Price before work
The technician looks at the lock, explains the likely method and gives you the price so you can decide.
- 3
Non destructive opening
We try manipulation, working the lock or a keypad bypass first, since these leave the safe fully intact.
- 4
Drill and repair as a last resort
If a safe has to be drilled, the hole is placed with care and repaired so the door locks again before we leave.
What Decides the Price
Gun safe work is priced by the lock, the safe and the method it takes. A dead keypad that can be bypassed is a smaller job than a high security lock that has to be manipulated for hours, and a drilled opening adds the repair and any new parts. Either way, the technician gives you the full price on location before starting.

Buying or Placing a Gun Safe in Las Vegas
Most Las Vegas homes sit on a concrete slab, which gives a gun safe a solid anchor point. Bolting the safe to the slab makes it far harder to tip over or haul out and keeps the door from shifting out of line, so pick a spot away from the water heater and the washer so a leak does not pool under the safe.
Garages here can get very hot in summer, which is hard on keypad batteries and can trap moisture inside a sealed safe as the temperature swings. A closet or spare room inside the air conditioned part of the house is a better home for firearms, and keypad batteries should be changed about once a year instead of waiting for the low battery warning.
Questions We Get Asked
Can you open a gun safe if I forgot the combination?
Yes, in most cases a locksmith can open a gun safe without the combination. We start with non destructive methods like manipulating the dial or working the keypad lock, and drilling is a last resort, and if it is needed we repair the hole so the safe stays secure. You will hear the price before any work begins.
My biometric gun safe will not read my fingerprint. What should I do?
First try the backup key or keypad code that came with the safe, since most biometric models have one. Dry or cut fingers, a dirty sensor and weak batteries often cause read failures, and if none of that works, a locksmith can open the safe and help you reset or replace the reader.
Will you need proof that I own the gun safe before opening it?
Yes, we ask for proof of ownership before we open any gun safe. A receipt, a photo ID that matches the address, or other paperwork showing the safe is yours usually works. This protects you and keeps firearms out of the wrong hands, so ask when you call if you are unsure what to bring.
Can a gun safe be bolted to the floor in a home with a concrete slab?
Yes, most gun safes have predrilled holes for anchor bolts, and a concrete slab is a solid base for them. Bolting the safe down makes it much harder to tip over or carry away. A locksmith can anchor it during a residential locksmith visit and check that the door still swings and seals properly.
