We make and program Jeep keys at your Jeep in Las Vegas, 24/7, from an older Cherokee cut key to a Gladiator proximity fob. A technician usually reaches you within 20 to 30 minutes, and the key is made right at the vehicle.

When keys are locked inside a Wrangler with the hardtop on, we can get you back inside without damage, and you can read about our vehicle lockouts service for details. If the key is gone for good, we build a new one with no original to copy.

Which Jeep Key Do You Have?

Jeeps from the 1980s and early 1990s used plain cut keys, and Chrysler then added transponder keys around the late 1990s, followed by remote head keys, dashboard slot fobs and proximity keys with push to start.

  • Plain cut keyOlder Cherokees and early Wranglers use this key, which has no buttons and usually no security chip. We cut it to match the locks from a code or by decoding a lock.
  • Remote head keyThis key has lock and unlock buttons built into the head, and Wranglers from around 2007 to 2018 use one, as do Patriots. We cut the blade and program the chip and the buttons.
  • Dashboard slot fobIt is a blocky fob with a short emergency blade inside, and you push it into a slot beside the steering wheel and turn it. Many Grand Cherokees from the late 2000s use one, and we program it much like a transponder key.
  • Smart key with push to startYou keep this proximity fob in your pocket, and newer Wranglers, Gladiators, Cherokees and Grand Cherokees use one on most trims. We program it to the Jeep and cut the hidden emergency blade.

Early Wranglers use a plain cut key, and transponder keys arrived during the TJ years around the turn of the 2000s. The JK, from 2007 to 2018, uses a remote head key with a chip, and the JL, from 2018, uses a proximity key with push to start on most trims.

Grand Cherokees from the early 1990s started with plain cut keys, and transponder keys arrived around the late 1990s. Many from the late 2000s use a fob that goes into a dashboard slot, and from around 2011 most use a proximity key with push to start.

The Gladiator pickup went on sale for 2020 and uses a key fob on every truck, with push to start on most trims, and we program a new fob at the truck and cut its hidden emergency blade.

Jeep Cherokee

The classic boxy Cherokee that ran into 2001 uses a plain cut key on most vehicles. The Cherokee name returned for 2014 with a key fob and push to start on most trims, and between those years the Liberty filled that spot in the lineup.

Jeep Renegade

The Renegade arrived for the 2015 model year, and base models use a flip key with a remote, many higher trims use a proximity key with push to start, and a start button on the dashboard tells you which one you need.

Jeep Patriot

The Patriot, built from 2007 to 2017, uses a transponder key with remote buttons on most models, and it turns in the ignition. We cut and program a new one at the vehicle, even when there is no key to copy.

How We Make a New Jeep Key

  1. 1

    Tell us the generation

A model year or a photo of your key tells us whether you need a cut key, a remote key or a proximity fob.

  2. 2

    Price on the call

We quote the job during the call and never add anything without asking first.

  3. 3

    Identification and cutting

We confirm your identification and registration, then cut the blade from the factory code.

  4. 4

    Program and start

We program the key to your Jeep and start the engine with you standing there.

What a Jeep Key Costs in Las Vegas

A Jeep remote head key, dashboard slot fob or transponder key with programming typically runs $150 to $350 in Las Vegas, and push to start proximity keys usually cost more. A plain key for an older Cherokee or Wrangler is usually $50 to $180.

Calls at night, on weekends or on holidays usually add $25 to $75. The key type and whether you still have a working key are what change the price most, and our locksmith cost guide explains more.

Make a Spare Before You Need One

Jeep owners misplace keys on trails, at the lake and in the sand, and a spare made now is a quick copy of a key the Jeep already recognizes, and it costs less than an all keys lost visit, so see our car keys page for the spare keys and fobs we make.

Owning a Jeep in Las Vegas

Plenty of Las Vegas Jeeps spend weekends exploring the desert roads outside town and then sit in a work lot on Monday, where heat and dust are hard on fobs, so keep the fob out of direct sunlight on the dashboard, replace its battery when the range drops and store a spare somewhere other than the Jeep.

Questions We Get Asked

Does a 2008 Jeep Wrangler have a chip in the key?

Yes, because the JK Wrangler that arrived for 2007 uses a remote head key with a transponder chip, and the chip must match your particular Jeep for the engine to start. We can cut and program a new key right where your Jeep is parked, and you hear the price first.

Can you make a key fob for a Jeep Gladiator?

Yes, the Gladiator has used a key fob since it was introduced in 2020. We program the new fob to your truck on site, so you can get back to driving without a tow, and before we begin, we confirm your identification along with the registration or title.

What should I do if I lose my Jeep key out on a trail?

Call us as soon as you have a signal and describe where the Jeep is parked. We are a mobile service covering Las Vegas and the nearby areas, open 24/7, and we can usually make a new key right where the vehicle sits, with the price given before we start.

Can you copy my Jeep key while I wait?

Yes, if you have a working key, we can cut a copy and program its chip or fob to your Jeep during a single visit. Having a spare now is far less hassle than dealing with a lost key emergency later, so call us for a price before any work begins.
