City of Las Vegas Locksmith License #P64-00012

We make and program Acura keys right where your car is parked in Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas, at any hour of the day or night. A licensed technician usually reaches you in 20 to 30 minutes, cuts the blade, programs the chip or fob to your Acura, and tests the new key before leaving.

If the only key is gone, your Acura can still get a new one without a tow to the dealer. Our page on lost car keys with no spare explains what to have ready, and if the key is simply sitting inside a locked car, we can open that too.

  • Honda rootsAcura shares much of its key design with Honda, so the replacement parts and the programming steps are familiar to our technicians.
  • Older cars are simplerMany Integras and other early Acuras run on an ordinary cut key with no chip, which makes the replacement quick and affordable.
  • Two pieces or oneSeveral Acuras from the 2000s came with a chip key and a separate remote, and we can replace either piece on its own.
  • Ownership comes firstWe check photo identification and the registration or title before we make any key, which protects you and your vehicle.

Which Acura Key Do You Have?

Early Acuras used simple cut keys, and most models moved to chip keys during the late 1990s and the 2000s. The newer lineup runs on smart fobs with push to start.

  • Plain cut keyThis is an all metal key with a plain plastic head and no electronic chip inside, and it shows up on older Integras and other early cars. We cut it to match your locks, so it is the fastest and least expensive Acura key to replace.
  • Transponder chip keyIt looks like an ordinary key, but the thicker head hides a chip that the car must recognize before the engine will keep running. The new key is cut first and then programmed to your Acura's immobilizer.
  • Remote head keyOn this style the key blade and the lock buttons share a single head. Both the chip and the remote side have to be paired to the car before the replacement works properly.
  • Smart key with push to startThis fob stays in your pocket or purse while the car detects it through antennas in the cabin. Most newer Acuras use one, and in most cases we program the replacement right at the vehicle.

Acura Models and Their Keys

Acura Integra

The Integra was sold in the US from 1986 to 2001, and most of these cars start with a plain cut key that has no chip. That usually makes a replacement a simple cutting job, although we confirm the key type on your car before we begin.

Acura CL

The CL coupe ran from the late 1990s into the early 2000s across two generations. Most CLs, and especially the later cars, carry a transponder chip in the key head that must be programmed after the blade is cut.

The earliest TLs from the mid 1990s used plain cut keys, while chip keys took over by the end of that decade. Later TLs offered a smart key with push to start on some trims, so we check which version your car has.

Acura RL

The RL used transponder chip keys for most of its production, often paired with a separate remote for the locks. Later RLs, and the RLX that replaced the model, moved to smart keys on most trims.

Acura RDX and MDX

Early MDXs used a chip key with a separate remote, and the first RDXs also started with chip keys. Later versions of both SUVs moved to smart keys with push to start, which we program on site in most cases.

Acura NSX

The original NSX was built from 1990 into the mid 2000s, and the early cars use a plain cut key. The newer hybrid NSX that returned around 2017 uses a smart key with push to start instead.

Acura ILX

The ILX arrived around 2013, and early cars on most trims used a remote head key with a traditional ignition. Later models moved to a smart key with push to start, so the year decides which key we make.

How We Make a New Acura Key

  1. 1

    Share the model and year

Call with the Acura model, the model year and the address where it is parked, so we arrive with the right key or fob.

  2. 2

    Confirm ownership

The technician looks at your photo identification and the registration or title before starting any cutting or programming.

  3. 3

    Cut and program on site

We cut the blade to your locks and then program the chip or smart key to your Acura's security system.

  4. 4

    Test everything together

Before leaving, we lock, unlock and start the Acura with the new key while you watch, so you know it works.

What an Acura Key Costs in Las Vegas

A plain cut key for an older Integra usually runs $50 to $180 in Las Vegas, and a chip key with programming is usually $150 to $350. Smart fobs for newer Acuras typically cost more than a chip key, and nights, weekends and holidays usually add $25 to $75.

The model year, the type of fob, and whether you still have one working key are what move the price most on an Acura. You hear the full price before any work starts, and our page on what a locksmith costs in Las Vegas breaks the numbers down further.

Make a Spare Before You Need One

Copying a working Acura key is a short visit, because the car can learn a second key while the first one is in hand. Once every key is lost, the job turns into originating a brand new key from the lock, which takes longer and costs noticeably more. A spare made today saves you that larger bill later, and our car keys page covers every brand we work on.

Owning an Acura in Las Vegas

A lot of Acuras around Las Vegas are daily drivers that sit in open parking lots and casino garages through the long summer. Desert heat is rough on fob batteries, and a weak battery is often the first warning before a smart key stops being detected. If your RDX or MDX starts saying the key is not found, replace the battery first, and call us if the message keeps coming back.
