We make and program Buick keys at your car in Las Vegas, 24/7, covering everything from an older Regal cut key to a proximity fob for a newer Enclave. A technician usually reaches you within 20 to 30 minutes, and most Buick keys are finished in your driveway without towing the car to a dealership.

Losing the only key does not stop the job. We can cut a replacement from the vehicle records and program it to the car while you wait. Read our steps for lost car keys with no spare if that describes your situation. Keys locked inside the car are usually a quicker and cheaper call.

Which Buick Key Do You Have?

Older Buicks used a plain cut key, and on many of them GM placed the security system in the ignition instead of the key. Through the 2000s and 2010s the security chip moved into the key itself, then into flip keys with remotes, and finally into proximity fobs with push to start.

  • Plain cut keyBuicks from the 1990s and early 2000s often use this key. It has a plain head and no buttons, and we cut it to match your locks. On some of these cars the ignition security system needs a short relearn procedure after a new key is added.
  • Transponder chip keyIt resembles a plain key, but the thick plastic head contains a chip that talks to the car's security system. The engine will not start until the chip is programmed. We cut the blade and complete the programming at the vehicle.
  • Flip key with remoteThe blade folds into the remote and springs out when you press a button. Many LaCrosse, Verano and Encore models from the 2010s use this design. We program both the remote buttons and the security chip during the same visit.
  • Smart key with push to startThere is no blade to turn, just a fob in your pocket and a start button on the dashboard. Newer Enclave, Envision and LaCrosse models use one on most trims. We program the fob on site and cut the emergency blade hidden inside it for the driver door.

Buick Models and Their Keys

Buick LaCrosse

The first LaCrosse, from the mid 2000s, used a transponder chip key with a separate remote. The second generation, which arrived around 2010, used a flip key on many cars and offered push to start on higher trims. The final generation, from around 2017, uses a proximity smart key with push to start on most trims.

Buick Enclave

Early Enclaves use a transponder chip key with a separate remote, and the driver turns the key in the ignition. The second generation, from around 2018, moved to a proximity smart key with push to start on most trims. These family vehicles pass through many hands, so a spare key is worth having.

Buick Encore

Most Encores from 2013 onward use a flip key with a built in remote and a security chip, and the driver turns it in the ignition. Some later years and the Encore GX use a proximity smart key with push to start on many trims. Tell us the year and whether your dashboard has a start button.

Buick Envision

The Envision uses a proximity smart key with push to start on the trims we typically see. The fob contains a small hidden blade for the driver door in case the battery dies, and we program a replacement fob to the vehicle right where it is parked.

Buick Verano

The Verano, sold from 2012 to 2017, uses a flip key with a built in remote and a security chip on most cars. A replacement requires cutting the blade and programming both the remote and the chip, which is a common and fairly quick job.

Buick Cascada

The Cascada convertible was sold here for only a few years in the late 2010s, so it is uncommon on Las Vegas roads. Most use a smart fob with push to start. A few newer models need the dealer for one step, and we tell you up front if yours is one of them.

Buick Regal

Regals from the late 1990s and early 2000s use a cut key, and the ignition security system on those cars can require a relearn procedure after a new key is made. The Regal returned around 2011 with a transponder flip key. Later Regals use a proximity smart key with push to start on most trims.

How We Make a New Buick Key

  1. 1

    Call with the year

Give us the model, the year and the location of your Buick, and we will identify the key type and give you the price during the call.

  2. 2

    Show you own it

When we arrive, we check your photo identification and the registration or title, which keeps replacement keys out of the wrong hands.

  3. 3

    Cut the blade

We cut the key from the factory code or by decoding the lock, so you do not need the original key to get a working replacement.

  4. 4

    Program and test

We program the chip and the remote, then test the doors, the ignition and the trunk release before we leave.

What a Buick Key Costs in Las Vegas

Typical Las Vegas prices run $150 to $350 for a Buick transponder key or flip key with programming, and proximity smart fobs usually cost more than that. A plain cut key for an older Buick is usually $50 to $180. Calls at night, on a weekend or on a holiday usually add $25 to $75.

The two factors that move the price on a Buick are the key type and whether you have a working key we can copy, since making a key after every original is lost takes more time. Our guide to locksmith prices in Las Vegas explains how the total comes together.

Make a Spare Before You Need One

A spare made while you still have a working key is the least expensive Buick key you will ever buy, because we simply copy what the car already knows. When every key is gone, we have to build a replacement from scratch, which takes longer and costs more. Check our car keys page for the spare options we offer.

Owning a Buick in Las Vegas

Buick owners in Las Vegas take plenty of short trips in serious desert heat, which drains fob batteries faster than in milder places. A weak battery is a common reason a push to start Buick cannot detect the key. If your Enclave or Envision reports no key detected in a casino garage or a Henderson apartment lot, put the fob in the backup position your owner's manual describes and try again before calling us.
