Scion ended after the 2016 model year, but its cars remain dependable daily drivers throughout Las Vegas and Henderson. We cut and program Scion keys on site, any time of day, and a technician usually arrives in 20 to 30 minutes.
Lost your only Scion key? Read our page on lost car keys with no spare, then call us, because we can make a new key from the lock and program it where the car sits.
- Toyota underneathScions use Toyota key systems, which our technicians program and troubleshoot on a regular basis.
- Mostly chip keysNearly every Scion has a transponder chip in the key that must be programmed to the car.
- Aging cars nowThe newest Scions date from 2016, so worn keys and tired fob batteries are very common.
- Quick inspectionWe look at your key and the car details before giving you a price.

Which Scion Key Do You Have?
Scion was sold from 2004 to 2016 and used Toyota key systems throughout. Most Scions use chip keys, and some later models came with remote head keys.
- Chip keyMost Scions use this cut key with a transponder chip in the head, so the blade is cut to your locks and then the chip is programmed to the immobilizer before the engine will start.
- Remote head keyOn this style the lock and unlock buttons sit right in the key head, and both the transponder and the remote have to be programmed before the replacement works completely.
- Separate keyless remoteSome Scions came with a chip key plus a small separate remote on the key ring, and we can replace either piece individually without replacing the other.

How We Make a New Scion Key
- 1
Tell us which Scion
Let us know the model and year, because that decides which Toyota key system it uses.
- 2
Bring identification
We need your photo identification plus the registration or title before making a key.
- 3
Cut and program
We cut the blade and program the chip or remote to your Scion in the spot where it is parked.
- 4
Test and hand off
We check the ignition and the locks before handing over the finished key.
What a Scion Key Costs in Las Vegas
A chip key with programming for a Scion usually runs $150 to $350 in Las Vegas. Most Scion keys fall within this typical chip key range, and a lockout is typically $45 to $135.
Nights, weekends and holidays usually add $25 to $75 to the typical price, and our page on what a locksmith costs in Las Vegas explains how we price different jobs.
Make a Spare Before You Need One
Making a Scion spare while you still have a working key is fast, since we can add the new key to the car using the one you already have, but once all keys are lost the job means originating a key from the lock, which costs considerably more. A spare is one of the smartest car keys investments you can make.
Owning a Scion in Las Vegas
Scions are popular with students and first time owners in Las Vegas, and many are now passed down in families or bought used with only one key. If you bought a used Scion with a single key, get a spare made soon, because desert heat also wears out remote batteries faster than most owners expect.
